What owners report
Short excerpts of NHTSA complaints in the original wording. These are owner statements not verified by NHTSA; personal data removed.
None of the airbags were deployed nor did the seatbelts lock. All 3 people were injured.
It hit me on the front driver side headlight and did $5000 damage. I suffered three fractured ribs and a head and back injury. My airbags failed to deploy.
This is an ongoing issue with the heater control switch. The temperature knob will not change from cool to warm. After I turn it fast back and forth, sometimes it may trigger the change. This has been happening almost a year. All other controls on the unit work fine.
The airbag never deployed. We checked on line and other years around our van had a recall but not ours. I reported it to chrysler but they said airbags don't go off when you 'drive through an animal'. I've known people who have hit deer with less damage and their airbags did go off.
Both the upper and lower airbags exploded with a pop-like sound, similar to gunfire, emitting terrible smoke and sharp debris, which smelled as though the car caught fire. Noticed several holes punctured as the airbags reached their maximum capacity, showing large burnt-like holes.
The seatbelts of my 2006 chrysler town and country do not lock. The dealer told me when I purchased that they would if I was in an accident in came to a quick stop. Today me and my three children were in an accident and they did not lock.
Looked out of the 2nd floor window approximately 2 to 3 minutes later and the car was moving, entered the garage (door opened) and ran into the wall, making a hole in the wall and minor scratching of the front fender. The car was still running and the gear was in drive.
The air bags failed to deploy. Smoke rose from the engine and all five passengers were injured. The front seat passenger suffered bruises to her legs, chest, and waist along with a sprained left ankle. The driver sustained neck and knee injuries.
