The cause of the brake failure was determined to be a material defect of a rubber section of brake line deep in the engine compartment that burst, causing a loss of all brake fluid. It was repaired under warranty.
Vehicle lurched forward into vehicle ahead, and into 2nd vehicle ahead in traffic. Engine continued to race at high speed with transmission in drive, spinning rear tires uncontrolled with both feet depressing brake pedal. Vehicle had to be put in neutral to shut off engine.
The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, a vehicle that was making a U-turn crashed into the rear passenger side door and that after the impact, all of the air bags failed to deploy.
I was with my 5 year old daughter in my car and she almost got crushed in the 3rd row because the button got accidentally pressed when loading items in the trunk and the seat wouldn’t stop. I could’ve lost my daughter.
“This vehicle is experiencing an intermittent complete loss of power while being operated. It has now happened multiple times, including twice within one week after the vehicle was in your shop for 30 days. I have children in this vehicle.
As we were actively driving, vehicle suddenly lost power and completely shut off. This was a sudden stall. Vehicle would not crank back up but starter would engage. Upon scanning the trouble codes, multiple codes came up in regard to the fuel pump issue that is currently under investigation.
1. There was front suspension failure where the lower ball joint has separated, causing the steering knuckle and wheel assembly to detach and collapse while driving- yes it is available to inspect if done tomorrow 2. Driver could not control car, passengers and other cars on road in immediate danger.
This creates a potential visibility issue because HVAC airflow is necessary to clear condensation and fog from the windshield and front side windows. In hot humid climate, windows can fog rapidly. Losing the ability to properly direct airflow can delay clearing the glass and reduce driver visibility.
