On December 27, 2025, while using the vehicle’s Automated Park Assistant feature to reverse into my assigned parking space in my enclosed residential garage, my 2025 BMW X6 failed to detect a fixed concrete structural column directly in its path.
The automatic parking feature was being used to park in garage the vehicle proceed to back up without stopping and the emergency braking system didn’t engage leading to the vehicle crashing. I could have been injured if the structure of the house didn’t stop the vehicle.
I was in an accident on the interstate 195 in New Bedford, MA. My car was pushed into the guardrail on the driver's side. The air bag in the the side of my seat deployed and ruptured releasing hot gases and burned me through my clothes. I received 1st and 2nd degree burns and was treated at a local hospital.
The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH on the highway, the vehicle lost power, and the contact was unable to maneuver the vehicle or accelerate as needed. The heat management module warning light illuminated on the instrument panel and caused the vehicle to lose motive power.
No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered goodwill repair. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
My car was running normal and suddenly red warning lights came on and it said “engine overheated, pull over and turn off car immediately.” I did pull over but I was inside an interstate tunnel. I tried to give it a bit of gas to get out of the tunnel but the car would not power with pedal pressure at all.
